In short: At "Stop sign (sign 206)" the examiner mainly wants to see: Brake early, come to a smooth stop; Come to a full stop until the vehicle is stationary; Stop at the stop line, without a line where the cross road can be seen; If the view from the line is poor, then edge forward carefully to the sight line and stop there again if needed. A severe mistake that can end the test: almost stop and roll on, nothing is coming anyway.
You come to a crossing with a stop sign (sign 206). The stop line is some way before the crossing, parked cars and a hedge block the view of the cross road. The cross road is the priority road.
The examiner says„Fahren Sie bitte an der Kreuzung geradeaus weiter.“
"Please drive straight ahead at the crossing."

- If the view from the line is poor, then edge forward carefully to the sight line and stop there again if needed
- Brake early, come to a smooth stop
- Come to a full stop until the vehicle is stationary severe mistake
- After stopping, give way to the cross traffic severe mistake

A strong answer
I brake early and smoothly and come to a full stop at the stop line, until the vehicle is stationary. If the view there is poor, I then edge forward carefully to the sight line, where I can see the cross road, and stop there again if needed. If the line is missing, I stop where I can see the cross road. I look left and right, also for cyclists and pedestrians. The cross traffic has priority, I let it through first and only go when nobody is endangered or substantially hindered.
What the law says
§ 41 (1) StVO with annex 2 no. 3 (sign 206): whoever drives a vehicle must stop and give way. If there is no stop line (sign 294), stop where the other road can be seen. Annex 2 no. 67 (sign 294): whoever drives a vehicle must stop here. If necessary, stop again at the point where the road you are entering can be seen (sight line). After that § 8 (2) StVO applies: only drive on if whoever has priority is neither endangered nor substantially hindered.

Quick check
You are at the stop sign at the stop line, but a van blocks your view to the left. What do you do?
- Accelerate so you cross quickly
- Creep forward at walking pace until you can see the road
- Honk so the cross traffic notices you
